To leave an OnlyFans agency, give written notice in the way your contract requires, then work through exit day in a fixed order: secure the email inbox attached to the account, change the password, close every login session, reset two-step authentication and passkeys, confirm the payout method is yours and clear anything the agency queued. Only then accept the handback of vault media, files and fan notes against a written checklist and reconcile the final statement. OnlyFans' Terms of Use say its relationship is with you, not with anyone who helps you operate the account, so nobody at OnlyFans will run the separation for you.
This guide starts after you have signed. If you are still reading a draft, the termination and handback clauses belong in our Australian agency contract checklist. For a full inventory of what an agency can reach, pair this page with the account control map and the least-access checklist. If you suspect fraud rather than a partnership that has simply run its course, go to the agency scams guide first, because preserving evidence comes before everything below.
Before notice: read the exit clause and list what the agency touches
Open the signed agreement and copy four details into your own notes: the notice period, the method notice must be given by, the effective date that produces, and anything still payable after the end, such as a fee on earnings that arrive after the effective date. If the agreement obliges you to keep providing access during the notice period, locking the agency out early could put you in breach. Get advice before you do that unless there is a security problem, money moving somewhere it shouldn't or a risk to your safety, in which case protecting the account comes first.
While things are still calm, build a private inventory in a folder the agency cannot open:
- the email address and phone number registered on your OnlyFans account, and who controls each one;
- every person, device and outside tool you know has been signing in on your behalf;
- the payout method on your banking page and the name it is registered under;
- where your raw photos and videos are stored off-platform, and whose account owns that storage;
- screenshots of your recent Statements, so your numbers exist before anybody else's report reaches you.
A termination notice template you can adapt
Keep the notice short, factual and anchored to the contract. Send it by the method the agreement names, keep proof that it went, and leave grievances you can't yet evidence for a separate letter. Replace every bracketed item before sending.
Subject: Notice of termination of the management agreement dated [date]
To [agency legal name], at the notice address set out in clause [number].
I am giving notice under clause [number] to end the agreement between [your legal name] and [agency legal name]. On my reading of the agreement, termination takes effect on [effective date].
By the effective date, please stop all activity on my OnlyFans account and connected social accounts, remove every team member, tool and device you have connected, return the items on the attached handback list in the formats stated, and send a final statement for [start date] to [effective date] showing the fee basis and every deduction.
Please do not publish, schedule or send anything on my account after [date and time], and do not delete or re-file vault media, fan notes or lists before I have confirmed the handback. Once the handback is accepted, please confirm in writing that copies of my content and my fans' personal information held by you or your contractors have been deleted, apart from records the law requires you to keep.
I will confirm receipt of each item against the list. [Your name], [date]
Exit-day sequence: take control back in this order
The order matters because each step depends on the one before it: a new password is useless if a reset link still lands in someone else's inbox. Work through the list in one sitting, on a device you own, and note the time you finish each step.
- Secure the email inbox first. Change the password and recovery options on the email account attached to OnlyFans and turn on the email provider's own two-step sign-in. The interface text the OnlyFans web app loads says you need access to your current email to change it, and points you to support if you have lost that access.
- Change the OnlyFans password. If you can't sign in at all, the forgotten password article sends you to the Forgot Password form on the OnlyFans home page.
- Close every login session. OnlyFans' article on someone else accessing your account says your login sessions are listed on the Account Settings page, and the web app includes a Close all sessions option.
- Reset two-step authentication and backup codes. The two-step set-up article covers an authenticator app or a code sent to the phone number on the account. When you issue new backup codes, the app warns that earlier codes stop working, which is exactly what you want after an exit.
- Check passkeys and the phone number. Delete any passkey created on a device you don't own, and remove it from that device if you can. Replace a phone number that isn't yours; without backup codes or the phone, the lost phone article asks you to email support with your @username and the email used to open the account.
- Review connected sign-ins. OnlyFans offers sign-in with X or Google. If the agency linked an X or Google account it controls, check your connected accounts settings and disconnect it so it can't be used as a side door.
- Confirm the payout method. Check that the payout method and receiving details are yours, then look through Payout Requests for anything heading to details you don't recognise. If a request looks wrong, use the OnlyFans contact form straight away.
- Clear the queue. Go through Queue and the posts and messages saved for later. Anything the agency scheduled will still publish after they have gone unless you remove it.
- Sort the promotion links. List every tracking link and free trial link, rename the ones you are keeping so you can tell which were agency-made, and delete links whose traffic you can't explain.
- Get outside tools disconnected. If the agency ran your account through a CRM, ask for your account to be disconnected and for the vendor's confirmation. OnlyMonster's disconnection page says a creator can ask its support team directly and that ownership is verified first.
- Close sessions one last time. Repeat the session check once the tools are gone and write down the time. That timestamp is the clean line between the agency's activity and yours.
Handback acceptance table: what “returned” should mean
A handback isn't finished because the agency says it is. Agree what counts as received for each item, check it yourself and sign off one line at a time. Start with the vault: the app warns that removing selected items from the vault is permanent, so ask that nothing is deleted or re-filed until you have checked it. Our vault organisation guide covers rebuilding the filing system afterwards.
| Item handed back | Accept it when | How you verify it | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vault media and categories | Every category you had still exists and uploads made for you are labelled | Spot-check categories against your inventory and recent posts | Categories emptied or merged during the notice period |
| Raw files kept off-platform | Ownership of the folders moves to your account rather than being shared with you | Open the storage settings and confirm you are listed as owner | A share link the agency can switch off after it leaves |
| Fan notes | Notes arrive in a file you can open, matched to usernames | Compare a sample against the fans you know best | Notes that live only inside the agency's CRM, where exports may be limited to the organisation owner, usually the agency, as OnlyMonster's data export page describes |
| Fan lists inside OnlyFans | Your custom lists still exist with their members | Open Lists and check the ones used for mass messages | Lists renamed or merged without telling you |
| Scripts, captions and message templates | You hold copies and the agreement lets you keep using them | Read the intellectual property clause before you rely on them | Agency-written material the agreement never assigned to you |
| Promotion accounts on social platforms | Login, recovery email and phone for each one are in your name | Sign in to each account yourself and read its recovery settings | Profiles registered to an agency email address |
| Tracking and trial link records | An export or screenshots covering the whole contract period | Compare totals with the Reach tab on your Statistics page | Links deleted before you could record them |
| Written deletion confirmation | A dated statement listing what was deleted and what is kept by law | Check that it covers contractors as well as staff | A general promise with no list attached |
Two rows need extra care. Scripts and templates may legally belong to whoever wrote them: business.gov.au's guidance on preparing a contract says a contractor automatically owns the intellectual property it creates unless the contract says the hirer will. Fan notes describe real people, so ask for them to be returned and then deleted, not kept; OnlyFans' Acceptable Use Policy prohibits sharing other people's personal data.
Reconcile the final statement against OnlyFans' own numbers
Build the reconciliation from OnlyFans data rather than from the agency's report. The OnlyFans Creator Center says the Statements tab shows earnings, payout requests and referral earnings for any period, and that new earnings sit in a pending balance first; its own example holds a tip made on 1 June until at least 8 June. That delay matters at the end of a contract, because money earned in the last days may still be pending on the effective date.
- Screenshot or export Statements for the exact contract period, using the effective date as the cut-off.
- Separate what fans paid from what you received. OnlyFans' payout percentages article says creators receive 80% of each fan payment and OnlyFans keeps 20%, so confirm which figure your fee is calculated on. Our gross versus net fees guide explains why that choice changes the bill.
- Check whether the agreement charges on money earned before the effective date, on payouts received before it, or both, and apply that rule to anything still pending.
- Look for refunds and chargebacks. The Terms of Use let OnlyFans deduct the creator share of a refunded or charged-back payment, so a late chargeback can shrink the base after you thought the period had closed.
- Compare the agency's invoice line by line, list each difference next to the statement line it relates to, and send that list in writing before you pay anything disputed.
- Keep the working file and screenshots together; if the final figure is argued over, they are your evidence.
When the handback stalls: a measured dispute path
Most exits go wrong slowly: a file that never arrives, a statement that keeps slipping, a login that stays connected. Put each problem in writing, cite the clause and the line on your handback list, and set a reasonable date for a fix. business.gov.au suggests a dispute clause should begin with written notice and allow for mediation or another form of alternative dispute resolution, so follow whatever process your own agreement sets out.
If you run an Australian small business, the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman offers a Dispute Support tool that points you to the most suitable resolution service. The ACCC's contracts guidance explains that, since 9 November 2023, proposing or relying on unfair terms in standard form contracts can attract penalties, and it lists terms that let only one party end the contract, or penalise only one party for ending it, as examples that may be unfair. Only a court can decide that, and the ACCC says it doesn't investigate individual complaints, so speak to a lawyer if an exit fee or restraint looks one-sided.
Move faster when control or money is at stake. If someone keeps signing in after you have reset everything, or payout details change without your consent, contact OnlyFans at support@onlyfans.com or through the contact form, preserve the evidence and follow the containment steps in the red flags guide. Leaving a shared account with a partner adds consent questions of its own, which our couples contract check works through.
Limits of this checklist
This is general information for creators who have already signed, checked against OnlyFans' public help articles, Terms of Use and web interface text on 1 October 2026. Menus and labels change, and some settings may look different in the app or in your country. It isn't legal or financial advice: whether a notice period, post-termination fee, restraint or deletion request can be enforced depends on your agreement and the law where you and the agency operate. A lawyer should look at those questions and an accountant at the final tax position. If you are deciding what comes next, our guide to agency trial periods and no lock-in terms shows how to build an exit in from the start.
