The most common reasons Fanvue gives for failed creator verification are all fixable: a blurry, cropped or glare-covered photo of your ID, an ID that has expired or is close to expiring, a weak webcam, a document type the system will not accept, or an older creator account still attached to your identity. Work out which cause applies, fix it, and retry on a phone in good light instead of resubmitting the same photos.
Fanvue runs more than one check that people call verification, and the fix depends on which one rejected you. This guide separates them, then gives a rejection-reason table, a resubmission checklist and the routes to take when retries stop working. If you have not started sign-up yet, the Fanvue creator account walkthrough shows where verification sits in the sequence.
First, work out which Fanvue verification failed
Search results for this problem mix three separate processes. They use different evidence and fail for different reasons, so start by placing yourself in the right row.
| Process | Who goes through it | Evidence it asks for | Where it is explained |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator identity verification (KYC) | Everyone who wants to earn as a creator, wherever they live | Photos of a government-issued ID plus a selfie or liveness capture, handled by Ondato | Why am I failing ID Verification / KYC? |
| Viewer age verification | Anyone opening or searching adult content from a region whose law requires an age check | A selfie for age estimation, with an ID photo requested in some regions or after an unclear selfie | Age verification on Fanvue |
| Verified Badge | Approved creators who want the badge on their profile | A public social post tagging Fanvue, approved KYC, enabled payouts and real account activity, requested by email | How to Get Verified on Fanvue |
The rest of this guide deals with the first row, the check that decides whether you can earn. A refused badge is not a KYC failure, so check the badge conditions, such as real activity on the account, before asking again. AI creators verify the human behind the persona with the same ID and selfie; the persona-specific rules sit in the Fanvue AI creator rules.
Failure-reason table: cause, fix and documents
Each row comes from a Fanvue article or policy, linked in the last column. Fix every row that could apply before you try again, not only the most likely one.
| Likely reason | Fix before retrying | Documents and set-up | Fanvue source |
|---|---|---|---|
| ID or selfie image is blurry or unreadable | Hold the camera still, let it focus, and place a sheet of white paper behind the ID to help the lens lock on | The physical ID on a plain surface | KYC article tips |
| Document cropped or shot from too far away | Frame the whole card or passport page with all edges visible and nothing cut off | The same ID, photographed square-on | KYC article: zoom |
| Dim light or reflections on the card | Move near even light and tilt the document until the glare on the laminate disappears | A bright room without a lamp directly overhead | KYC article: lighting |
| ID expired or close to its expiry date | Use a document with at least six months of validity remaining, as the article requires | A current passport or national ID card | KYC article: expiry |
| Document type not supported | Switch to a passport if a driving licence or local card is rejected | A passport, the fallback Fanvue itself suggests | Profile setup guide, KYC steps |
| A scan, a photo of a screen or a damaged card | Photograph the original document; the guide says it must be valid, undamaged and not a digital copy | The original ID in good condition | Profile setup guide, ID criteria |
| Low-quality desktop webcam | Scan the QR code shown during the check and finish it on your phone | A phone with a working rear and front camera | KYC article: camera quality |
| Camera blocked by the browser | Allow camera access for the browser in your phone or computer settings, then reload the page | Browser permission switched on | KYC article: camera permissions |
| Another creator account already holds your identity | Delete the old creator account before verifying a replacement, or add a second profile through Linked Accounts | Login access to the earlier account | Linked Accounts guide |
| Face partly hidden in the selfie | Remove masks, hats and glasses; real creators must keep the face visible for identity checks | A plain wall behind you and light in front | Acceptable Use Policy 2.5 on face coverings |
| Selfie and ID do not belong to the same person | Verify only with your own document; mismatched identity evidence is listed as a suspension reason | Your own ID, nobody else's | Banned or suspended article |
| The verification window never loads | Disable ad-blockers and privacy extensions for fanvue.com, clear cache or switch browser; these tips come from the viewer age-check article but involve the same provider window | An up-to-date browser with extensions paused | Age verification article |
| A VPN or location tool is running | Switch it off; disguising your location to get around compliance controls breaches the rules | Your normal connection | Age Verification Policy 5.2 on circumvention |
Resubmission checklist
Retry once, carefully, rather than several times in a row. The Age Verification Policy says failed attempts are logged and that repeated failures can lead to temporary account restrictions.
- Read the rejection message or email in full and note the reason it gives, if any.
- Check the expiry date printed on your document against the validity rule.
- Move the whole check to a phone and confirm the browser can use the camera.
- Set up near a window or soft lamp with no glare, a plain background and white paper under the ID.
- Take off anything that covers part of your face.
- Turn off any VPN and pause ad-blockers or privacy extensions for fanvue.com.
- Confirm no older creator account is still active under your identity.
- Photograph the original document, all edges in frame, then take the selfie in one sitting.
- If the same reason comes back, stop retrying and contact support through live chat with the rejection text and an alternative document if you have one.
- Log every attempt: date, document, device and the message shown. That record helps support and any appeal.
When retries stop working: support and appeal routes
Fanvue's documents disagree on whether a rejection can be revisited. The KYC steps inside the profile setup guide state that verification decisions are final and cannot be overridden, while section 4.3 of the Age Verification Policy lets users who believe they were wrongly rejected contact support with the reason, any relevant documents and an alternative way to verify. The policy is the more formal source, so use its route, but expect support to focus on technical faults and alternative documents rather than reversing a judgement.
Contact support through the live chat on the Help Centre or by email, and keep the reply. If a failed age check has locked you out of your account entirely, the age verification article says to email support rather than keep trying. Never open a fresh account or borrow someone else's documents to get past a rejection: the policy treats circumvention as grounds for termination, and identity mismatches are one of the documented reasons accounts are suspended, a situation covered in the Fanvue restricted or banned account guide.
Re-verification after you are approved
Passing once does not end the process. Section 1.3 of the Creator Terms reserves the right to ask for updated documents or re-verification at any time, and the Age Verification Policy adds changes in the law, updated technical requirements and suspicious activity as triggers. The moderation policy also describes manual reviews of every new creator before the first withdrawal and of any creator earning more than $100 in a 24-hour period.
Practical upshot: renew your ID before it runs out, keep your account details accurate as the General Terms require, and answer document requests quickly. Linked accounts share the identity you verified, so a compliance problem on one is tracked across all of them.
What happens to the ID data you submit
Creator verification is more invasive than the viewer age check, and the policies say so plainly. According to the Age Verification Policy, full KYC for creators collects government ID details, biometric data for face matching and document images, which are kept under US record-keeping rules for adult content, while Fanvue itself stores verification status as tokens rather than raw personal data. The viewer age check is lighter: the age verification article says Fanvue keeps only a pass or fail result and a timestamp from it.
The Privacy Policy names Shift Holdings Ltd as data controller under UK data protection law and lists rights of access, correction and erasure, subject to legal retention duties, plus a right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Your ID never appears on your public profile. For a comparison with how a different platform handles the same step, the OnlyFans identity verification guide covers its document rules and timing.
Anyone else who appears in your content goes through a separate process: either their own Fanvue KYC or a signed release with ID sent to support. That route is explained in the Fanvue co-authored content guide.
Limitations of this guide
The reasons and fixes above come from Fanvue's Help Centre and policies as published on 1 October 2026. Fanvue does not publish its full list of accepted documents or the exact criteria Ondato applies, so a rejection with no stated reason may not match any row here, and accepted document types can differ by country. Nothing in this guide can make a check pass; it narrows down the likely causes so your next attempt is a better one. If your documents are genuinely valid and support cannot resolve the problem, ask them in writing what alternative evidence they accept.
