Walmart Creator is Walmart's own affiliate and influencer program for creators in the United States. Approved members create commissionable links to Walmart.com products, build a Storefront, can be considered for brand campaigns, and are paid commission through the Impact partner platform. The Walmart Creator terms, last updated in September 2026, say that to apply you must be of majority age where you live, reside in the US, have an active Walmart.com or SamsClub.com account, not be a current Walmart or Sam's Club employee, and link at least one public social media account.
This page covers Walmart Creator only. Strategy for choosing and running affiliate programs is in our affiliate program scorecard, and Amazon's equivalent has its own guide to the Amazon Influencer Program.
Eligibility and application checklist
Walmart's guide to becoming a Walmart Creator says the program accepts creators of all backgrounds, experience levels and follower sizes, and no follower minimum appears in the terms. The real gates are residency, banking and brand fit. Check each line before you apply:
- You are of majority age in your state, which the terms describe as at least 18 in most states.
- You live in the US and can be paid into a US bank account; the terms bar foreign bank accounts for payouts.
- Your audience is mainly in the US, because the terms list sites that primarily serve a non-US audience among the places Qualifying Links must not appear.
- You have an active Walmart.com or SamsClub.com account and are not currently employed by Walmart or Sam's Club.
- The social account you link is public, and your content would pass a brand compatibility review against Walmart's community and influencer guidelines.
- You are not planning to post links before approval; the terms ask rejected applicants not to link to Walmart, though they can reapply at any time.
Submitting the application counts as accepting the terms, which include mandatory individual arbitration and a waiver of class actions, so read them first.
Links, Storefronts and campaign opportunities
Walmart's article on earning more with Walmart Creator describes three ways to make links: a Chrome extension that adds a Get Link button on Walmart.com, a link generator on the creator site, and quick links copied from the Walmart app. Your Storefront is a page on Walmart.com where you curate collections of eligible products; the same article warns that the handle is permanent, so match it to your social handles from the start.
Walmart keeps control of the Storefront. Under the terms it decides the page's appearance, ranking and labelling, can add a disclosure of your participation, and can suspend the feature or remove your Storefront if it judges it unsuitable. Walmart may also show your content inside Walmart.com, on product pages or in search results, and pay an onsite commission on direct purchases of the featured product, provided you hold a dedicated Storefront ID for that purpose.
On paid campaigns, Walmart's 2022 launch announcement said creators could apply to take part in upcoming brand campaigns and earn commission with no cap. The current public terms say little about campaign pay, so treat any campaign as a separate deal and read its brief and contract on their own merits.
How commission is earned, and what never pays
Section 5 of the terms sets five conditions for a sale to earn commission: the shopper's browser accepts cookies, they arrive through your Qualifying Link, they buy through Walmart's ordering system, they accept delivery, and they pay in full. Commission is calculated on the sale price, which excludes shipping, handling, gift-wrapping, taxes, rebates and anything refunded, returned, charged back or cancelled. Rates sit in the Payout Terms inside your account and vary between Walmart Creator, Sam's Club Creator and onsite use; Walmart can change them or exclude items without notice.
- Excluded purchases. Sam's Club orders, Walmart Pharmacy, travel, financial services, tyres, purchases paid for with gift cards, customer service adjustments and reorders.
- Search traffic. No commission when the shopper reached Walmart from free or organic search results rather than from your content.
- Competing links. The shopper must come back directly rather than through another affiliate link, and Walmart makes the final call when a sale could be credited to more than one creator.
- Attribution window. The terms defer to the Payout Terms. Walmart's own earn-more article states a 14-day window covering anything the shopper buys, so confirm the figure in your Payout Terms, which govern if the two differ.
Payouts and tax setup
Section 7 says payments are made through Impact, and that you must finish Impact's identity verification before you can be paid. Payments run monthly: a product returned before the 30-day locking period ends shows up as a deduction from your next monthly payment. The terms do not publish a payout minimum, so check the payment settings in Impact and your Payout Terms. Keep your Impact login secure; the terms say Walmart is not responsible for losses caused by someone else using it.
On tax, the terms put sole responsibility for taxes on commission with you. Keep monthly statements, record any free products you receive, and ask a US tax professional how to report affiliate income. Our guide to how influencers get paid covers the records worth keeping.
How Walmart Creator compares on paper
The rows below come from each program's own published pages, with no figures added from elsewhere.
| Program | Who can apply | How payouts work | Where to find rates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart Creator | US residents of majority age with a Walmart.com or SamsClub.com account and a public social profile | Monthly through Impact, US bank accounts only, after a 30-day locking period for returns | Payout Terms inside your account, per the program terms |
| Amazon Influencer Program | Creators with a qualifying TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest or Facebook account, judged on quality, engagement and following, per Amazon's explainer | Monthly, roughly 60 days after month end, once the balance clears Amazon's payment threshold | Standard rates that vary by product category, according to Amazon |
| ShopMy | Invite-based waitlist open to creators outside the US, usually with an engaged public audience | Every Friday once locked commission reaches ShopMy's threshold, per its payment FAQ | Shown beside each brand inside the platform |
| LTK | Application and review; criteria in our LTK guide | Weekly, as LTK announced in 2024; minimum not public | Retailer terms, with some brands varying rates or excluding products, per LTK's commission page |
The biggest structural difference is geography: Walmart Creator is closed to non-US residents, while ShopMy and Amazon accept creators elsewhere. Details for the others are in our guides to ShopMy and LTK.
Disclosure: the tags Walmart writes into the contract
Section 4 of the terms requires FTC-compliant disclosure and says endorsements with Qualifying Links must be labelled “#WalmartPartner” or “paid link”. The Walmart Influencer Guidelines go further: they accept #WalmartPartner, #Walmart_ad, #Walmart_sponsored or a statement such as thanking Walmart for a free item, require #WalmartPartner to be the first hashtag and visible without pressing “see more”, and require video disclosures both spoken and on screen long enough to read.
One Walmart page reads differently. Its starter tips say to start or sign off every post with #WalmartPartner. Follow the stricter guidelines: the FTC's Disclosures 101 expects disclosures that are hard to miss, and a sign-off at the end of a video is easy to miss. Format-by-format placement is in our FTC disclosure guide.
Content rules that catch creators out
- Family-friendly only. The guidelines rule out promoting adult products such as guns, alcohol and tobacco, and the terms bar placing links near sexually explicit material or crypto trading content.
- Music and third parties. Use royalty-free platform audio libraries, and get written permission before featuring another person or someone else's logo.
- No dupes, giveaways or politics. “Dupe” comparisons with other brands, calls to action for contests and giveaways, and political views are all off limits.
- No incentives or disguised links. You cannot reward people for using your links, shorten links in a misleading way, or run ads and paid search with your links without written approval.
- Honest experience. Claims must reflect your actual use; the terms ask that endorsements reflect recent use of the product.
- AI content. AI-generated content that misleads, impersonates anyone or fabricates product effects or reviews is prohibited. Disclose AI that changes how a product looks, for example “AI-generated room scene”, and clearly disclose any AI-made synthetic person, as our guide to AI sponsorship disclosure explains.
The content licence you grant Walmart
Section 10 lets you keep ownership of your content but gives Walmart and its licensees an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it, together with your name, image, likeness, voice and handles, to market Walmart, without notifying, paying or asking you again. You also waive moral rights where the law allows and release publicity and privacy claims arising from that use. Section 27 adds the right to edit, mute, caption, cut down, translate and reformat your content for use on Walmart.com, and both rights survive if you leave the program.
In practice, do not include anyone in program content who has not agreed to that kind of use, and check any exclusive deal with another brand before you post its category on Walmart. If a brand pays you for usage rights, our UGC contract template shows how to write the limits Walmart's terms do not give you.
Limitations of this guide
This summary is based on the public terms dated September 2026, the influencer guidelines and Walmart's own articles; the Payout Terms with rates, windows and minimums sit behind the login and can change without notice. We have not joined the program or tested its tracking. Where Walmart's pages disagree, we have pointed it out rather than picked one silently. This is general information, not legal or tax advice, and the arbitration clause in particular is worth reviewing with a lawyer if the program will be a meaningful share of your income.
