This YouTube money calculator is a worksheet you fill with your own numbers from YouTube Analytics, stream by stream, rather than a tool that multiplies views by an assumed rate. It uses no average RPM or CPM, because YouTube publishes none, and its partner earnings overview warns that the partner agreement promises no specific earnings. Every rate below comes from your own channel's recent months.
That makes it no use for guessing what another channel earns, and that is deliberate: public view counts reveal nothing about which views carried ads, how many viewers pay for memberships or what live streams bring in. For your own channel, Analytics already holds every input. The worksheet covers Watch Page ads, Shorts, Premium, memberships, Supers, gifts and Shopping, and it keeps estimated and finalized earnings in separate columns so you can see how far your forecasts drift.
Calculators that ask only for views have to assume three things YouTube never publishes for a given channel: the share of views that carried ads, what advertisers paid for them and how much the audience spent on fan funding. YouTube's ad revenue analytics page gives several reasons a view can pass without an ad, from content that is not advertiser-friendly to viewers no available ad is targeting. A result built from views alone is someone else's assumption applied to your audience.
Pull these reports first
Gather three complete recent months. YouTube's revenue help page lists the sources that appear under How you make money, including Watch Page ads, Shorts Feed ads, memberships, Supers, connected stores and Shopping affiliates.
- Revenue tab, How you make money: monthly revenue for each source.
- Content performance: long-form views and Shorts engaged views, split by format.
- Memberships tab under Earn: active members by month. YouTube's memberships analytics page separates active members from total members, which still include people who canceled but keep access until their billing period ends.
- Live stream analytics: Supers and gifts for each stream, if you go live.
- Shopping: pending and approved affiliate commissions, plus your store platform's own sales report.
- AdSense for YouTube, Payments: the finalized total for each month.
Check each stream is open to you
Before you plan income from a stream, confirm your channel and your location can use it. Each one has its own conditions on top of the Partner Program tiers.
| Stream | Who can switch it on | Where YouTube sets the rules |
|---|---|---|
| Watch Page and Shorts Feed ads | Partner Program members at the ads tier, in a country where the program runs, with the relevant modules accepted | Partner Program availability |
| Channel memberships | Fan funding tier or above, aged 18 or older, living in a listed country | Channel memberships guide |
| Super Chat and Super Stickers | Aged 18 or older, in a country where they are offered, with the Commerce Product Module accepted | How to earn money on YouTube |
| Super Thanks | The same terms, in listed countries, and not on age-restricted, unlisted, private, made-for-kids or claimed uploads | Super Thanks eligibility |
| Gifts | Partner Program members aged 18 or older with a verified AdSense account, in a country where Virtual Items are offered | Virtual Items policies |
| Your own products through Shopping | Partner Program members at the subscriber threshold or with an Official Artist Channel, not made for kids, with no hate speech strikes | Shopping on YouTube |
| Shopping affiliate program | By invitation only, and only for creators based in the program's listed countries; Australia and the United Kingdom are not among them | Shopping affiliate program |
| YouTube Premium revenue | Creators who have accepted the relevant modules, earning only from Premium members, and Premium is sold in some countries only | Your content and YouTube Premium |
If a stream is closed to you today, keep its row in the worksheet at zero rather than deleting it. The empty line is a reminder of what becomes possible when you reach a new tier or a feature reaches your country.
The monthly multi-stream worksheet
For each stream, derive your own rate from the three months, then multiply it by what you plan for next month. Leave the last three columns blank until the month has closed.
| Stream | Planning unit | Your rate, from your own months | Next month's estimate | Finalized | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Watch Page ads, including Premium on long-form | Long-form views | Watch Page ad revenue ÷ long-form views × 1,000 | Planned views ÷ 1,000 × your rate | ||
| Shorts Feed ads, including Premium on Shorts | Engaged Shorts views | Shorts Feed ad revenue ÷ engaged views × 1,000 | Planned engaged views ÷ 1,000 × your rate; zero in any month below the qualified views bar set by the Shorts policies from February 1, 2027 | ||
| YouTube Premium | Memo line only | Already inside the two ad lines above | Do not add it again | ||
| Channel memberships, including gifted | Average active members | Memberships revenue ÷ average active members | Planned active members × your rate | ||
| Super Chat and Super Stickers | Live streams and Premieres | Revenue per stream, using your median stream | Planned streams × your rate | ||
| Super Thanks | Uploads, long-form and Shorts | Revenue per upload, using your median upload | Planned uploads × your rate | ||
| Gifts on vertical live streams | Rubies earned | Set by YouTube at $0.01 per Ruby in its Virtual Items policies | Planned Rubies × $0.01, from your own Rubies per stream | ||
| Shopping affiliate commissions | Approved commissions | Approved commissions per tagged video | Count approved commissions only; keep pending ones in a note | ||
| Connected store sales | Store orders | From your store platform's reports, not AdSense | Record separately from the YouTube total | ||
| Total paid through AdSense for YouTube | Sum of the YouTube lines | Excludes the memo line and store sales |
The Premium memo line guards against an easy mistake in home-made calculators. YouTube's metric definitions describe Watch Page ad revenue as including YouTube Premium and Shorts Feed ad revenue as covering Shorts Feed ads and YouTube Premium, and they describe memberships revenue as covering memberships and gifted memberships. Adding Premium as its own line on top would count it twice.
Use medians for live streams and uploads. Fan spending clusters around particular moments, and one unusually generous stream can pull an average far above what a typical stream brings in. If you have streamed only once or twice, leave the Supers line at your lowest stream until you have more history.
Filling the estimated and finalized columns
Analytics figures are estimates. YouTube's revenue help page notes a 2-day delay before revenue shows and two later adjustments, one after about a week and one around the middle of the next month. Finalized earnings for a month are added to your AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th of the next month, according to the earnings overview, which also notes that any tax withholding is visible only in AdSense for YouTube.
AdSense for YouTube reports your finalized YouTube balance rather than the source-by-source view you get in Analytics, so fill the stream-level Finalized cells from Analytics once YouTube's Analytics help says finalized earnings have appeared there, typically by the 12th, and check that their sum matches the AdSense figure. Store sales never pass through AdSense: the earnings overview says your merch retailer or store platform pays you directly, and the revenue help page warns that sales shown in Analytics may not match your store's own data. Affiliate commissions stay pending until approved, after a return window that the revenue metrics table describes as typically 30 to 90 days.
Three checks before you trust the total
- No double counting. Premium sits inside the Watch Page and Shorts Feed lines, so it only ever gets a memo line.
- Eligibility gates. Each stream depends on terms you have accepted. YouTube's changes page says features tied to updated modules stop earning from February 1, 2027 if the terms are not accepted by January 31, 2027, and that creators who signed the earlier Commerce Product Addendum need to accept the Commerce Product Module by that date to keep earning from fan funding. From February 2027, Shorts pool revenue also depends on the qualified views window set out in the Shorts policies.
- Cash timing. An estimate is not a payment. Your balance has to reach the payment threshold for your currency before Google pays out, and our guide to how YouTubers get paid walks through the thresholds, holds and payment dates.
A monthly routine for the sheet
- In the first days of the month, export last month's estimates by source and fill the estimate column for the month just ended.
- Once finalized earnings have posted, pull the same reports again and fill the Finalized column.
- Write one line in Difference for any stream that moved, naming the reason if you know it.
- Drop the oldest month from each rate and add the newest, so every rate stays based on your three latest months.
- Set next month's planning units, such as views, engaged views, streams and active members, from your actual schedule rather than your hopes.
Using the worksheet to decide what to make
After a few months, the worksheet becomes a comparison of effort as well as income. Put the hours each stream takes beside its rate: a live stream's Supers and gifts against a long-form video's ad revenue, a members-only post against the membership revenue it supports. Our channel memberships guide includes a level planner with a production-cost line for each level, and our long-form per-video estimate worksheet helps you size a single upload before you commit to it. For Shorts, the Shorts variance log shows how much one month's pool can move your rate, and the RPM vs CPM reconciliation sheet explains what sits inside each ad line.
Remember what sits outside the sheet. Sponsorships, your own products and off-platform services do not pass through YouTube at all, and the full list of on-platform streams, with the tier that opens each one, is in our guide to making money on YouTube.
Limitations
Rates derived from three months describe those three months. Advertiser demand shifts with the season, fan spending can spike around a single event, and a small channel's medians rest on very few data points. Country lists and eligibility rules for individual streams also change over time, so recheck the table above whenever YouTube announces program updates rather than assuming last quarter's answer still holds.
Currency is another fixed point: YouTube's payment process page says your payment currency cannot be changed. The worksheet is a planning tool, not financial or tax advice; for how YouTube income is taxed where you live, ask a registered tax agent or accountant.
