To link Twitter, now called X, to OnlyFans, open the linked or connected accounts area of your OnlyFans account settings, choose X, sign in to the X account you use for your creator persona and approve the authorisation screen X shows you. OnlyFans' privacy policy confirms that it collects information when you sign in through a third-party single sign-in or connect a third-party account, so treat the link as a data connection between two companies rather than a cosmetic badge.
OnlyFans does not publish a step-by-step help article on this that we could load on 1 October 2026, so the menu path below comes from third-party walkthroughs and may shift. The points about data and verification come from OnlyFans' own documents, and the revoking and security steps come from X's help centre. For using X to grow, see our X growth funnel guide; this page is only about the connection.
What OnlyFans' own documents say about social accounts
The OnlyFans privacy policy, last updated June 2026, lists among the data it holds about creators a “third-party social media handle / personal website address”, which it says is used to further verify your age and identity and to understand the content you are likely to share. In the part describing how it obtains data, it names two routes that matter here: signing in to OnlyFans through a third-party single sign-in, and connecting a third-party account to your OnlyFans account. A separate section on third-party links warns that enabling such connections may allow third parties to collect or share personal data about you.
The OnlyFans Transparency Center verification page lists social media account handles among the information creators provide, next to government ID and selfies, and the OnlyFans Creator Center includes social media account handles in its creator approval list. None of the three pages says the handle has to be on X, or that it has to be connected by logging in, and the privacy policy puts a personal website address in the same category.
Is linking X needed for verification?
Third-party walkthroughs are not consistent on this. One we read, Infloww's guide to linking X, calls linking X part of account verification near the top and describes it as optional further down the same page. OnlyFans' own pages put the weight of verification elsewhere: identity documents, a selfie holding your ID and ongoing checks. The Transparency Center says creator accounts face secondary selfie checks on a rolling 30-day cycle, and that a failed check makes the account inaccessible while it is reviewed.
The practical reading is to have a social handle or website ready when onboarding asks for one, and to see connecting X by login as one way of supplying it, not as the identity check itself. Whether the form accepts a website instead of a social account in your case is something only the onboarding screen can tell you. Our guides to OnlyFans identity verification and the wider verification process cover the document side.
Connect and disconnect steps
Do this on a computer or phone where you control which X account is signed in. Menu names are approximate; the checks in the last column matter more than the exact labels.
| Step | Where | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in to the creator account you plan to link | OnlyFans | You are on the creator account, not a separate fan account |
| Open the account settings and find linked or connected accounts | OnlyFans settings | Third-party walkthroughs describe a Profile, Account, Linked Accounts route; labels change over time |
| Choose X, which some screens may still call Twitter | OnlyFans | A new X sign-in or authorisation window opens |
| Sign in to the persona account | X sign-in | If the browser is already logged in to X, confirm which account it shows before going further |
| Read the authorisation screen, then approve | X | X recommends granting app access only through its OAuth method, and apps connected that way never need your X password |
| Return and confirm the connection | OnlyFans | The handle shown is the one you meant; view your public profile while logged out to see what visitors see |
| To disconnect, remove X in the same linked accounts area | OnlyFans settings | The handle no longer appears on your profile or in settings |
| Revoke OnlyFans' access from the X side as well | X settings, Apps | OnlyFans is gone from the connected apps list |
| If you suspect misuse, change your X password and revoke apps | X settings | X says a password change alone does not log out its mobile apps; revoking access forces a fresh sign-in |
The OAuth advice comes from X's account security tips, which warn that anyone given your username and password has complete control of the account. The revoking steps come from X's compromised account page, which tells users to visit Apps in their settings and revoke access for any third-party application they don't recognise. Disconnecting on both sides is the tidy option: removing the link on OnlyFans does not, on its own, prove that OnlyFans' access to your X account has ended.
Signing in to OnlyFans with X
Using X as your OnlyFans sign-in is convenient, but it ties access to your income account to the health of a social account. If X locks the account pending a challenge, suspends it, or someone else takes it over, the sign-in route goes with it, and a takeover of the X account could become a route into OnlyFans as well. X's compromised account page lists the warning signs: posts you didn't write, direct messages you didn't send, follows or blocks you didn't make, change notifications you didn't trigger, and a password that suddenly stops working.
If your OnlyFans settings let you add an email-and-password sign-in alongside X, set it up and test it while you can still get in, and protect both accounts with two-step verification and unique passwords. Keep a note of which email address each account uses, so recovery does not depend on remembering which login button you pressed months ago.
Troubleshooting the connection
- The wrong X account got connected. The browser was signed in to another account. Disconnect on OnlyFans, revoke the app in X's Apps settings, sign out of X, then connect again.
- The authorisation window closes or loops. Allow pop-ups for both sites, try a private window, and pause extensions that block sign-in windows, then retry once rather than repeatedly.
- X says the account is locked. Expect the connection to fail until the lock is lifted, so finish X's challenge first; its notices page says X may ask the owner to verify with a phone number or email address.
- The X account is suspended. OnlyFans cannot use it to identify you. Sign in another way if you set one up, or contact OnlyFans through its help centre.
- You renamed the X handle. Check whether your OnlyFans profile still shows the old one; if it does, disconnect and connect again.
- Strange activity appeared after connecting. Change the X password, revoke every app you don't recognise and review recent posts and messages before reconnecting anything.
Automatic sharing and preview posts
Creators often ask whether OnlyFans can post previews to X automatically once the accounts are connected. We found no current OnlyFans documentation of an automatic sharing feature on 1 October 2026, so we cannot confirm whether one exists in your account. If your settings do show a sharing option, test it with a safe-for-work post before relying on it.
Whatever reaches X through a connected app counts as your post. X's automation rules say users are ultimately responsible for actions taken by applications associated with their account. Adult media still needs a content warning and must stay off profile surfaces, as set out in our X adult content policy guide, and repeated identical promotional posts run into the duplication rules covered in X DM and spam rules for creators.
Privacy checklist: what becomes visible where
| Item | Who can see it | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| Your X handle on the OnlyFans profile, if displayed | Anyone who can view your OnlyFans page | Open the profile in a logged-out private window |
| The OnlyFans link in your X bio or posts | Anyone who can see your X profile or posts | Decide whether the X account stays public or protected |
| OnlyFans in the X connected apps list | You, and anyone with access to your X login | Review the Apps list once a month |
| Data passed between the services when you connect | OnlyFans, and X as the sign-in provider | Read the third-party sections of the OnlyFans privacy policy |
| The birth date on your X profile | Depends on your settings; X's notices page says visibility defaults to private if you update it after January 2022 | Open the birth date visibility setting and confirm it |
| A personal X account you never linked | Nobody through this connection, as long as it stays separate | Never approve the connection from a browser signed in to it |
- Connect only the X account built for your creator persona, and keep personal accounts on a different browser profile.
- Give the persona X account and OnlyFans their own email address, separate from the one family, employers or banks know.
- Switch on two-step verification on both services before linking them, not after a problem.
- After any change, look at both profiles logged out and note exactly what a stranger can now connect.
For wider separation between your real identity and your creator brand, our anonymous creator privacy guide covers the rest of the setup, and our social media rules map shows where an OnlyFans link is allowed beyond X.
Limitations of this guide
OnlyFans' help centre is built in a way our tools could not read, so the settings path here relies on third-party walkthroughs and may not match what your account shows. We could not test the connection inside a live creator account, cannot see what OnlyFans displays to visitors in every region or app version, and found no official page describing automatic sharing to X. The privacy and verification points are limited to what the OnlyFans privacy policy, Transparency Center and Creator Center said on 1 October 2026, and either company can change its flows without notice. If your income depends on the connection working, confirm the current steps with OnlyFans support before you change anything.
