TikTok has no single monetization requirement; every program sets its own age, follower, view and account rules, and most add region limits. The lowest bar is going LIVE: TikTok's LIVE help page says you must be 18 and have 1,000 followers, which may vary across regions. Creator Rewards sits much higher, with TikTok's eligibility page asking for a personal account, at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days in one of eight countries.
The table below puts every program side by side, with the TikTok page each figure comes from. After it come the places where TikTok's own pages contradict each other, the region and account-type rules that override the numbers, and a tracker for measuring how far you are from each gate. To decide which program suits your content in the first place, start with the map of TikTok's earning paths.
The eligibility table
Read each row with its source open, because TikTok updates these pages without notice and some show different text depending on where you browse from.
| Program | Age | Followers | Views and activity | Account and region | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Going LIVE | 18 | 1,000, may vary by region | None stated | LIVE is not available everywhere | What is TikTok LIVE |
| LIVE Gifts | 18, or 19 in South Korea | Must be eligible to go LIVE | Account in good standing | Where LIVE Gifts is offered; public interest accounts excluded | LIVE Gifts page |
| Video Gifts | 18, or 19 in South Korea | 10,000 | Account at least 30 days old; a public video in the last 30 days | Personal account, where Video Gifts is offered | Video Gifts page |
| Creator Rewards Program | 18 | 10,000 | 100,000 video views in the last 30 days | Personal account, public, based and registered in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico or Brazil | Eligibility page |
| Subscription | 18 | Over 10k | Over 100k video views during the last calendar month | Rolled out to select regions | Subscription setup guide and expansion announcement |
| Super Fan | Not separately published | Not separately published | Runs through your LIVE Fan Club | LIVE creators only | Super Fan FAQ |
| Series | 18, or 19 in South Korea | 10,000, or proof of premium content sold elsewhere | 3 or more public posts and 1,000 or more views in the last 30 days; account at least 30 days old | Public Personal or Business account; political and private accounts excluded | Series help page |
| TikTok Shop affiliate (US) | 18 | 1,000 | Identity verification; a 30-day pilot with posting limits for affiliates under 5,000 followers | Based in the United States | US Shop creator rules |
| TikTok Shop creator (UK) | 18 | Not stated in the terms | Onboarding and screening requirements | Resident in the United Kingdom | UK Shop creator terms |
| TikTok One | 18, may differ by region | 10,000, may differ by region | 1,000 post views and 3 posts in the last 30 days | Business accounts use it on the web only | TikTok One help page |
Creator Rewards has more conditions than fit in one row, including video length, originality and account reviews. They are covered line by line in the Creator Rewards eligibility checklist.
Which gate to plan for first
Read the table from the lowest bar upwards and the order of programs becomes clear:
- Going LIVE comes first for most accounts, at the follower level the LIVE help page sets for your region.
- LIVE Gifts follow as soon as you can go LIVE, and in the US the Shop creator rules open affiliate applications at the same 1,000-follower mark.
- Series can arrive earlier than the follower count suggests, because the Series help page lets smaller creators apply with a link to premium content they have already sold.
- Video Gifts and TikTok One become possible at 10,000 followers under the Video Gifts page and the TikTok One help page, while Subscription and Creator Rewards also need their view targets, and Creator Rewards needs one of the eight eligible countries.
That order is about access, not value. Whether a program is worth running depends on your content, which is why the earning-path guide matches formats to programs before thresholds.
Where TikTok's own pages disagree
Several requirements appear in more than one place with different wording. When they conflict, the stricter reading is the safer one to plan around, and the eligibility check inside TikTok Studio has the final word for your account.
- TikTok One followers. The help page asks for 10,000 followers, while the Creator Academy's TikTok One article says projects require at least 1,000 followers as a baseline, plus whatever each brand adds.
- Series account types. The Series help page accepts public Personal or Business accounts, but the Creator Academy Series overview says Business accounts qualify only in select regions.
- Creator Rewards age. The eligibility page says 18, while the Creator Rewards help page says 18, or 19 in South Korea, and the US terms refer to the age of majority where you live.
- Shop follower figures. Third-party guides often give 5,000 as the entry point, but the US Shop page sets 1,000 for affiliate creators and uses 5,000 for leaving the pilot and for marketing accounts promoting other sellers' products.
- Measuring windows. Creator Rewards counts the last 30 days on its eligibility page, Subscription counts the last calendar month, and Series and TikTok One count recent posts as well as views. A single follower or view figure cannot tell you where you stand across all of them.
Region and account-type rules that override the numbers
Meeting a follower count means nothing if the program is not offered to your account. In the US, TikTok's January 2026 announcement says the TikTok USDS Joint Venture now handles trust and safety and content moderation for US users, while TikTok global's US entities manage certain commercial activities, and the US program terms name the joint venture as the Creator Rewards provider. Outside the US, programs run under separate regional terms, which is why the Shop rules above are split between a US page for creators based there and UK terms for UK residents.
Account region is set at sign-up. The account region page says TikTok uses signals such as your SIM card or IP address, that you may not be able to change the region again once changed, and that rewards from the old region must be settled first. Account type matters as much. Creator Rewards and Video Gifts need a personal account, Series accepts some Business accounts, and the eligibility page says a Business account switched to personal can apply for Creator Rewards 30 days after the switch.
Where to check your own status
Your first stop is the Creator Monetization Center inside TikTok Studio. TikTok's guide to it describes a Programs for you section that highlights programs you are eligible for, and warns that availability varies by market, account status and feature rollout. Then confirm each program at its own entry point:
- Creator Rewards: TikTok Studio, then Creator Rewards Program.
- Subscription: TikTok Studio, the Monetization tab, Monetization Programs, then Subscription and Join Subscription.
- Series: TikTok Studio, then Series, or tiktok.com/series in a browser.
- Video Gifts: TikTok Studio, then Video Gifts within Monetization.
- LIVE Gifts: the Settings menu on the LIVE screen before you go live.
- TikTok One: TikTok Studio, the Monetization tab, Creator Marketplace, then Check eligibility.
- TikTok Shop in the US: TikTok Studio, Monetization, then TikTok Shop for Creator.
Take a screenshot of each result with the date. If an eligibility screen changes later, you will know whether the rule moved or your numbers did. Programs that pay you also need a payment account, tax details and identity checks before money moves, which the TikTok withdrawal guide sets out.
Gap-to-eligibility tracker
Copy this into a sheet and update it weekly. Fill in today's figure from TikTok Studio analytics, the gap, and the date to check again. Use the window each program names, not a lifetime total.
| Metric | Gate and window | Today | Gap | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Followers for LIVE | 1,000, may vary by region | What is TikTok LIVE | ||
| Followers for Shop (US) | 1,000 for affiliate creators | US Shop creator rules | ||
| Followers for Creator Rewards | 10,000 | Eligibility page | ||
| Views for Creator Rewards | 100,000 in the last 30 days | Eligibility page | ||
| Views for Subscription | Over 100k in the last calendar month | Subscription setup guide | ||
| Posts and views for Series | 3 public posts and 1,000 views in the last 30 days | Series help page | ||
| Posts and views for TikTok One | 3 posts and 1,000 post views in the last 30 days | TikTok One help page | ||
| Account age for Series and Video Gifts | At least 30 days | Video Gifts page |
A rolling 30-day figure can fall as easily as it rises, so log it on the same weekday each week. Growth bought or traded for does not help: the US Creator Rewards terms count authentic followers and views only.
What a bigger follower count will not fix
- Account standing. Every program on the list requires an account in good standing, and repeated Community Guidelines violations close most of them.
- Originality. Creator Rewards, Subscription and Series all exclude unoriginal content, and Duets and Stitches are excluded from several.
- Profile contact details. Creator Rewards and Subscription reviews treat personal or business contact information in your account details as advertising.
- Proof of age. The Creator Rewards FAQ tells applicants to be ready to verify their age with a government-issued ID.
- Account category. Government, politician and political party accounts are excluded from Creator Rewards, Video Gifts, Series and Shop, whatever their size.
Once you qualify, each program has its own operating rules. The Subscription guide covers sub-only content, the Series guide covers paid collections, and paid reach through Promote has separate rules again in the TikTok Promote guide.
Limitations of this table
Every figure here comes from a TikTok help page, Creator Academy article or program terms as they read on 1 October 2026, and each row links its source. TikTok can change requirements at any time, rolls features out by market, and shows some pages differently by region, so a figure that is right in one country may be wrong in another. Where a program publishes no threshold, the table says so rather than filling the gap with an estimate.
Meeting every requirement makes you eligible to apply, not entitled to join; TikTok reviews applications and can decline them. Questions about contracts, tax or business registration that come with monetising should go to a qualified accountant or lawyer where you live.
